POTFF adds Family Support Coordinators

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. --  The Preservation of the Force and Family initiative continues to grow here. For example, Family Support Coordinators have recently been assigned to various groups and squadrons across the base.

"I believe our job is what ties the POTFF initiative together," said Christina Lewis, 1st Special Operations Maintenance Group FSC. "We support the Airmen and families by building relationships with them and understanding their personal needs."

The coordinators provide resiliency education to Airmen and their families to increase quality of life and strengthen the overall readiness of the special operations community.

"It is my belief that if one's personal needs are met, they will perform the mission at a higher standard," Lewis said. "The FSC is responsible for linking the person in need with the right service or information. This could be another POTFF provider, base agency or resource."

On an average day, coordinators interact with first sergeants, commanders, and the Airmen within their group or squadron. In addition, they attend Key Spouse meetings, commander's calls and squadron functions.

"The goal is to help active-duty members to find balance between the added stress of a high-operations tempo and their personal lives," said Marisa Olin, 1st Special Operations Mission Support Group FSC. "If an Airman has the additional support that POTFF can provide, then hopefully they can achieve that balance."

FSC meetings are specialized to each individual's needs. The information is tailored to ensure all questions and needs are met, and that each person is on the right path to a stress-free life.

"My job is to connect Airmen with resources and tools that will help them achieve a well-balanced and fulfilling life," Olin said. "We work for them so they can perform the mission to the best of their ability."
