  • The 1 SOMDG ‘Jack of all trades’: physicians assistants kickoff PA Week

    The 1st Special Operations Medical Group kicked off physician assistant’s week here on Oct. 6, with a breakfast gathering, starting a week-long appreciation for the medical Air Commandos that can often be seen as the jack of all trades in the facility. PA Week is meant to highlight the versatile and essential job that PAs do as crucial members of a medical staff team.
  • 1st SOMDSS opens ScriptCenter

    The 1st Special Operations Medical Group and 1st Special Operations Medical Support Squadron opened use of the brand new ScriptCenter, located in the base exchange on Sept. 4, 2020 “It’s what we call, in the pharmacy world, an external will-call system,” said U.S. Air Force Capt. Michael Braud, chief of pharmacy operations with the 1st SOMDSS. “That’s just a fancy way to say a medication pick-up cabinet, but it’s external to the pharmacy so you’re not having to wait to pick up your prescription.”
  • Hurlburt Field conducts anti-terrorism/force protection exercise

    Members of the 1st Special Operations Wing conducted an exercise that simulated a terrorist attack on base to provide inspection teams the opportunity to assess how the base would respond in a real-world attack. Participants were permitted to take off their masks during designated portions of the exercise out of safety concerns that surpassed the concern of transmitting coronavirus disease 2019.
