    The 1st Special Operations Medical Group held a diversity and inclusion month kickoff at Hurlburt Field, Florida, Oct. 5, 2020. The 1st SOMDG diversity and inclusion council was formed to research, develop and propose mechanisms that will help create a supportive, positive and inclusive work environment for all staff at the 1st SOMDG.
  • Osprey's fire for readiness, soar above Emerald Coast

    Aircrew members with the 8th Special Operations Squadron conducted approach and landing training, and fired approximately 600 rounds of .50-caliber ammunition, ensuring Air Force Special Operation Command’s tip of the spear capability and presence. The CV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft combines the vertical takeoff, landing and hover capabilities of a helicopter with the long-range, fuel efficient and speed characteristics of a turboprop aircraft.

  • Hurlburt focuses on families through nursing rooms

    Units across Hurlburt Field welcomed the application of the U.S. Air Force Guidance Memorandum implemented August 14, 2020, establishing the requirement of lactation rooms for nursing mothers. This new memorandum requires units to provide a safe, quiet space for new mothers to take lactation breaks and a space to store milk. The memorandum instructions detail the responsibilities and procedural steps to enable commanders to align the needs of nursing mothers with mission requirements. Approximately 14 units on Hurlburt have already designated spaces for family rooms to support Air Commandos and their families with plans to establish more soon.

    A 9/11 memorial ceremony was held at Hurlburt Field, Florida, Sept. 11, 2020. The ceremony was especially dedicated to the hundreds of first responders who died on 9/11 while saving the lives of others.
  • 1st SOMXS Airmen maintain aerospace ground equipment

    Air Commandos assigned to the 1st Special Operations Maintenance Squadron inspect and maintain aerospace ground equipment at Hurlburt Field. AGE specialists play a vital role in ensuring Team Hurlburt’s aircraft are ready for flight by maintaining and repairing equipment that supplies electricity, hydraulic and air pressure to aircraft.
