1st SOSS Air Commandos awarded for excellence, heroism

U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Jim Slife, commander of Air Force Special Operations Command, presents the Airman’s Medal to Staff Sgt. Christian Magliocca, an MC-13H Combat Talon II loadmaster with the 1st Special Operations Support Squadron, Nov. 13, 2020, at Hurlburt Field, Florida. Magliocca received the medal for his heroism involving voluntary risk of his own life in August 2017 when he rescued a local resident caught in a rip current. Slife also presented the Sergeant Dee Campbell Large Team of the Year Award to Master Sgt. CJ Miller, the host aviation resource management team superintendent with the 1st Special Operations Support Squadron. The 1st SOSS HARM team received the award for excellence in resource management through the rewriting of multiple Air Force Manuals and the support of numerous deployments of more than 1300 aircrew members.
