11th Special Operations Intelligence Squadron

Mission
The 11th Special Operations Intelligence Squadron provides tailored full-motion video processing, exploitation and dissemination for special operations forces engaged in both combat and non-combat operations worldwide.

Lineage
Constituted as 5th Photographic Technical Squadron on 9 Oct 1943. Activated on 20 Oct 1943. Inactivated on 29 Apr 1946. Allotted to the Reserve on 12 Jul 1948. Activated on 10 Aug 1948. Inactivated on 27 Jun 1949. Consolidated (16 Oct 1984) with the 99th Reconnaissance Technical Squadron which was constituted on 1 Jan 1953. Inactivated on 15 Apr 1955. Redesignated as: 11th Reconnaissance Technical Squadron on 16 Oct 1984; 11th Intelligence Squadron on 26 Jul 2006. Activated on 1 Aug 2006. Redesignated as: 11th Special Operations Intelligence Squadron on 31 Jul 16.

Emblem Significance
Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors.  Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations.  Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The hawk embodies vigilance. The large eye with a scanning line represents a camera lens and symbolizes continuous observation. The lightning flash denotes speed in accomplishing the mission. The motto “Persequor Furtim Hostis” translates in English to “Stalk the Enemy”
