Detachment 7 was established in 1963 at Eglin Auxiliary Field 9, Hurlburt Field's original designation, and was absorbed into the 16th Logistics Support Squadron as the AFSOC Maintenance Training Flight in November 1994. The FTD was reactivated as Detachment 7 on July 1, 1995, maintaining the same mission and focus throughout each transition.
